The Lower Moreland Township Board of Commissioners adopted a Non-Discrimination Ordinance at their November 8, 2022 public meeting. The ordinance declares a policy of non-discrimination for Lower Moreland Township and establishes the Human Relations Mediator Office. The Township is seeking applicants to volunteer as the Human Relations Mediator. This individual must be a resident or business owner within Lower Moreland Township and shall have qualifications consistent with the mediator’s duties including but not limited to a work history in the field of human relations, employment, law, law enforcement, investigation or other similar work. Upon appointment to this role, the HR Mediator will be responsible for administering the complaint and mediation process for claims of discriminatory acts, defined as unlawful discriminatory practices as related to employment, public accommodations, publicly offered commercial property or housing accommodations because of actual or perceived race, color, age, religious creed, ancestry, sex, national origin, handicap or use of guide or support animals because of blindness, deafness or physical handicap of the user or because the user is a handler or trainer of support or guide animals, or because of an individual’s sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or identification as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
