Welcome from the Chief

Welcome to the Lower Moreland Township Police Department’s (LMPD)photo of Chief Scirrotto official webpage. Our aim is for this site to provide you with access to useful information regarding the department’s public safety programs and services, community involvement and special events.

Thank you for the opportunity and honor to serve as the Chief of Police in Lower Moreland Township.  My  job, however, would not be possible without the amazing men and women of the  LMPD,  both sworn and unsworn, with whom I have the privilege of serving alongside every day. I am confident there is no finer staff serving anywhere than right here in your hometown. Together, we serve the residents of Lower Moreland Township, the larger Lower Moreland/Bryn Athyn community and the thousands of citizens who work in and travel through the Township every day.

LMPD is committed to providing the highest level of police services including emergency response, high visibility patrol, community engagement, quality criminal investigation and addressing traffic safety issues. The department is tasked with providing these services 24 hours per day all year long.  Paramount in every aspect of our work is protection of the rights of all those with whom we interact.

We strive to collaborate with the greater law enforcement community to maximize our capabilities. LMPD members also serve on the Montgomery County SWAT – East Region, Montgomery County Drug Task Force, Regional Crash Investigation Team and FBI Child Exploitation Task Force, among others.

In addition to our sworn officers, we also have a team of civilian staff who support LMPD’s mission in a variety of ways. The civilian team handles duties including evidence custody and processing, training coordination, records management and car seat installation, as well as managing our regional booking center and internship program.

On behalf of each member of this organization, I want to express our commitment to providing police services with the utmost respect, compassion and excellence as we strive to maintain the quality of life that you expect here in Lower Moreland Township.

Yours in Service,

David J. Scirrotto
Chief of Police
