Stormwater

The Stormwater Division maintains the Township’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) and the obligations for the system’s state permit. This includes hundreds of publicly owned inlets, pipes, outfalls, culverts and other features throughout the Township.

Stormwater Fee

The Township began collecting a $70 per quarter stormwater fee in 2023. This fee will help the Township better plan to meet its MS4 permit obligations by doing the following things:

  • Hiring a dedicated Public Works employee for general MS4 maintenance.
  • Allocating specific engineering time for capital project design.
  • Developing and implementing an inspection program for properties with existing Stormwater Operations & Maintenance agreements.
  • Collaborating with community partners, including the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust and existing homeowners associations, for stormwater facility improvements.
  • Improving the Township’s mapping and other MS4 records.

MS4 Maintenance

The Township takes responsibility in maintaining its stormwater infrastructure. There are also many instances of privately owned stormwater features throughout the Township. If you encounter a maintenance issue (ie: clogged inlet), please contact the Township at 215-947-3100. You may also email Kelly Jones at [email protected]. Someone from our Stormwater Division will come out to the location to assess the situation.
